Job Description:
The Student Success Coach works directly with students to support their development, resilience, and academic success, both in the classroom and out. As an integral part of college efforts to improve retention, persistence, and graduation rates, Student Success Coaches work across departments to bring instruction and co-curricular learning into alignment. The focus and expertise of the Quantitative Literacy Student Success Coach is on building student capacity in mathematics, quantitative reasoning, and the use, communication, and interpretation of data. The Quantitative Literacy Student Success Coach teaches in the mathematics course sequence, provides training for peer tutors in quantitative literacy, and provides support to students in coordination with math faculty. Specific duties include (but are not all inclusive):
Contributes to strategic plan objectives by establishing an integrated suite of learning enhancement programs that support student success and Sustainability Science education and create a robust academic advising system that improves graduation rate and support student outcomes after graduation.
Advises 20 - 40 Unity College students. Serves as their primary resource for academic and career planning and connects them with other resources.
Works with the Dean of Academic Support to stay up to date on curriculum, academic changes, and processes.
Teaches up to 12 credits of math, Unity Experience, or Unity Transfer Experience per year, as needed by the Chief Academic Officer and with permission of the Chief Student Success Officer and President.
Provides one-on-one academic mentoring for a varying caseload of academically at-risk students as assigned by the Dean of Academic Support.
Develops and delivers student skill building workshops through the Collaborative Learning Center.
Effectively presents information and responds to questions from students, parents, and college employees.
Provides mathematics instruction, feedback, and support.
Assists students and resolves problems in a variety of complex situations and dynamics.
Effectively manages classrooms, designs and delivers instruction, assesses and evaluates student work.
Work flexibly across the institution to enlist support in response to student needs.
Summer responsibilities include:
Teaches mathematic skills in summer courses and provides support for students in courses through Unity College Online.
Assists with retention and re-recruitment efforts through outreach, connection, and support for returning students during the summer.
Supports other summer programming and other departmental needs as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree preferably in a STEM field as well as:
1 - 3 years' experience working with college-age students in a teaching or counseling capacity in a higher education setting.
Basic crisis intervention skills or ability to learn (self-harm, sexual assault, substance abuse, etc.)
Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in professional advising, professional training, and workshop development.
Additional Information:
This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position that works both days and evenings depending on the student requirements. May sometimes include participation in college events, student activities and events, ceremonies, and outdoor activities, including occasional evening and weekend work. Must be flexible and cooperative in meeting the college's needs.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
