Adventure Program Leaders (Camp Alsing) - Student Positions - Unity College

Job Description:
Camp Alsing provides a camping experience to children between the ages of 9 and 16 with high-functioning autism. The Adventure Program Leader coordinates and manages safe and productive activities for these children at Unity College. The Adventure Program Leader trains Camp Alsing staff (according to the Camp Alsing agreement) to provide assistance to watersports and other activities. The Adventure Program Leader supervises program participants and facilitates co-curricular activities. The Adventure Program Leader must be available 8 hours a day for the 12 days the camp runs with campers in residence, with 2 overnight camping events, and one additional day for training prior to the camp's start date. Specific duties include (but are not all inclusive):
Provide a one day training to Camp Alsing staff who will be supporting activities such as watercraft and ropes courses. This will include a water safety skills training, a Challenge Course training, and a training on belay.
Attend Unity College training as directed.
Participate in week-long staff training provided by Camp Alsing so as to understand programming and policies.
Ensure all needed equipment is readied for activities and is cleaned up and secured.
Drive vans with campers to and from activity locations, as needed.
Coordinate and supervise 1/2 at of challenge course activities per week (2 total) for campers.
Coordinate and supervise 1 to 2 full days per week of canoe and kayak activities for campers.
Coordinate and supervise 2 overnight camping events for campers located on Unity College property.
Supervise activities and provide a safe environment.
Serve as a positive role model while overseeing children.
Deliver activities during daytime hours in coordination with the Camp Alsing staff.
Provide daily updates on program and Camp Alsing needs to Events Manager.
Deliver programs designed to address campers' unique needs; set standards for participant behavior and promote the formation of a healthy community during the program.
The ideal candidate must complete required training and certifications as well as specialized training based on the age of participants and other aspects of the programs running during the summer. Training may include medical training sufficient to allow for assistance with medications. Other requirements include:
Must have a valid drivers license with a good driving record and be certified to drive college vans.
Must hold ACA Canoeing Level 1 Certification.
Must hold a valid WFA certification as a minimum requirement.
Must hold a valid CPR certification.
Must hold lifeguard certification or be able to obtain by start date.
Must have experience and training in Challenge Course.
Additional Information:
Camp Alsing dates are June 26 - July 15, 2018. Unity College training (2 days) prior to Camp Alsing is required in May. There will be an opportunity to contribute to schedule creation in March or April.
Daily schedule flexible, responsive to needs of Camp Alsing, including some overnight programing.
Position will be required to stay overnight to supervise two overnight camping events.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
