Dining Float Assistant - On Call - Unity College

Job Description:
An on call staff position that provides support to multiple areas of dining services. This position may perform any of the essential duties of other existing positions as needed to ensure overall quality and satisfaction of students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Float Assistant may perform these duties in any area of dining including Wyman Commons, Catering, and the Student Center. The Float Assistant supports and is supported by other members of the Sustainability work unity and works with all constituencies to realize the Unity College Mission and Strategic Plan and reports to the Director of Dining. Specific duties include (but are not all inclusive):
Prepares ingredients for current shift and following shift as needed, according to area being covered.
Cooks and serves food at stations, helping maintain cleanliness of salad bar and/or stations, and assisting in clean-up during and after open hours.
Occasionally manages point of sale system, including swiping ID cards, collecting money from customers, and ensuring that no customers consume food or beverages without swiping or paying.
Sanitizes and maintains general cleanliness of serving stations, dining tables, and beverage stations both throughout and after meal hours.
Restocks front-of-house products as needed.
Ensures that all dishware, utensils, trays, and post are clean and sanitized in a timely manner.
Distributes clean dishware and utensils into designated areas in server and dining area, and arranges them in an orderly manner.
Organizes all stock including a storage system and rotation of supplies utilizing the FIFO system.
Assists in preparation, set up, and clean-up of catered events, including moving items from kitchen to event and back manually and/or in vehicle as needed.
Serves and refills food at events promptly and courteously, occasionally alone.
Demonstrates compliance with the rules and regulations of the college pertaining to the Maine State Liquor Laws.
Demonstrates compliance with safety and sanitation regulations.
Demonstrates a high degree of commitment to customer service.
The ideal candidate will have a GED and one or more years of related experience and/or training. High School diploma preferred. Other qualifications include:
Cash management/reporting and inventory control accountability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Serve-Safe Certification must be obtained within six months of hire.
Ability to read and comprehend written and oral instructions.
Ability to respond effectively to customer inquiries or complaints.
Proficient in the use of cash management and/or point of sale systems.
Valid driver's license with good driving record preferred.
Additional Information:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and taste or smell. The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to use the computer and telephone for internal and external communications.
Work is performed in a food service setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical equipment and is frequently exposed to heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but during certain events can be very loud.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
