Associate Director of Career Services - Unity College

Job Description:
The Associate Director of Career Services directly supports the Director of Career Services in managing the operations of Career Services and coordinates study abroad and all international opportunities for Unity College. Provides Distance Education students with all career services, specific to the characteristics of distance education student needs. Assists students and alumni with career development skills; develops and presents career related programming; provides and administers career assessment tools; provides individual counseling; teaches career decision making. Helps track alumni career placement statistics. Develops and maintains relationships with employers, graduate schools, and study abroad organizations in coordination with institutional external partnership efforts. Assists with strategic college efforts regarding the internship and community-based learning programs including marketing and student recruitment; student success and retention; external partner relationship management; and strategic planning as assigned. Specific functions include (but are not all inclusive):
Assist in managing day-to-day operations of the office of Career Services.
Supervises all Development and Career Services work study students.
Implements career-based learning outcomes and career development plan models.
Implements college policies and practices. Recommends policy and procedure changes regarding Career Services.
Researches, reviews, and implements study abroad opportunities.
Supports and implements programs for international students.
In coordination with supervisor, supports lead college personnel with other institutional priorities.
Helps build positive relations within the program area team, college constituencies, and external parties.
Supports and maintains relationships with federal, state, nonprofit, and private organizations, agencies and businesses that employ or have the potential to employ Unity students and alumni in coordination with institutional partnership efforts.
Assists development in maintaining relationships with alumni through social media and scheduled outreach communications as assigned (alumni newsletter).
Recruits and coordinates agencies and organizations for on-campus employment interviews.
Coordinates program, recruits employers and vendors, supports logistics and provides marketing and media relations content for Environmental Career Fair.
Supports maintenance of employer database and Unity College job board.
Maintains Unity College institutional membership and represents the college with career networks and professional associations in alignment with Career Services plan.
Supports a calendar of Career Services plan as developed with Director of Career Services.
Educates students and alumni on career development skills.
Provides students with access to employer information through databases, web-based job boards, social media, one-on-one counseling and publications.
Supports the development and provides career development resources for students and alumni.
Conducts on-campus outreach including developing and conducting workshops on resumes, cover letters, interviewing, application process, graduate schools, and study/travel abroad. Counsels individual students as needed and appropriate. Supports graduate school counseling and application.
Participates in institutional job placement and outcomes tracking.
Assists in annual alumni surveys.
Assists in reporting of job-related information gathered through surveys to internal and external audiences.
Supports institutional research efforts to monitor job and graduate school placements and hiring trends and report to appropriate audiences.
Works with Director of Career Services, marketing, and other content providers to coordinate production of alumni communication collateral including web site content and alumni newsletter.
Hosts alumni on external or internal visits as assigned.
Hosts and/or attends development, recruitment, and external college events and represents the college as assigned.
Documents every interaction with alumni or other external partners using college identified software and systems.
The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a related field with at least 3 years of job-related experience as well as:
Natural Resources background preferred
Ability and willingness to work with students from diverse political/socioeconomic backgrounds and a wide range of physical and academic abilities.
Ability to develop and give presentations.
Knowledge of career counseling and career development process.
Experience with and exposure to international cultures preferred.
Excellent organizational skills.
Must be able to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, administration, faculty, staff, students and off-campus community.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal/human relations and counseling skills.
Good computer skills with spreadsheet, database software, word processing, Web based job search databases and Windows software.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Additional Information:
This position primarily works day shift with some evening and weekend shifts. Working extended hours required as needed. Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities and in meeting the College's needs. Extensive travel related to employer development, college events and internal visits. Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record.
While performing the duties of this job, is regularly required to sit and talk or hear as well as stand or walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Use of either hand for repetitive movements such as grasping, grasping and turning, and fine manipulation. Able to use the telephone for internal and external communications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
