Director of Information Technology - Unity College

Job Description:
The Unity College Director of Information Technology provides leadership, planning, managerial, and operational oversight for all Information Technology (IT) department functions, services, information systems, IT hardware and software, initiatives, and personnel. As IT department lead, the director is responsible for the administration of day-to-day IT operations, continual service improvement, budgeting, financial planning, cost control, vendor relations, and personnel management. The director is responsible for significant high-level technical services including application development, database administration, network and systems configuration, systems deployment and management, etc. The director partners with other staff and faculty at all levels of the institution and leads a team of IT professionals to deliver effective IT services based on industry best practices to students, faculty, and staff in support of teaching, student learning, administrative processes, research, outreach, etc. The Director of Information Technology assists with related strategic college efforts including marketing and student recruitment; student success and retention; vendor and consortia management; and strategic planning as assigned. Specific duties include (but are not all inclusive):
In coordination with the CIO, serves as the IT department lead by aligning IT department operational and strategic activities with institutional priorities, including the college academic and administrative vision. Implements and executes strategic direction for all technology initiatives of the college.
Provides coordination, operation, and day-to-day management and leadership of the Information Technology department and the services it provides, in support of the College's mission.
Explores and assesses new and emerging technologies that will provide a technology rich environment that meets the needs of today's diverse campus and student population, as well as providing technologies and information systems that afford strategic advantages Unity College.
Develops, proposes, implements and maintains effective policies and practices for all information technologies; ensuring access, security, and usage are in accordance with college policies, applicable laws and best practices.
Maintains effective working relationships with academic and administrative personnel across the institution, serving on appropriate committees to represent IT, and functioning as a spokesperson and technology expert for the college on matters related to information and learning technologies.
Works as an adaptive leader with skills to supervise and manage IT personnel, budgets, equipment, and facilities effectively, efficiently and strategically.
Manages risk to the institution via logical, virtual, and physical security controls.
Responsible for effective fiscal management of all IT budgets, encompassing budget preparation and expense control.
Negotiates systems and component acquisitions, end-user service level agreements, and vendor service level agreements.
Ensures the continuous delivery of IT services through the oversight of service level agreements with vendors and monitoring of IT systems performance to ensure the continuous functioning of mission critical operations.
Plans, designs, purchases, implements, maintains and supports (directly or indirectly):
All information systems and services
All wired, wireless and voice networks and network services for the Unity College campus and its outlying properties.
All classroom audio-visual systems.
All computer systems and devices owned by the institution.
Provides prioritized technical support and training resources as appropriate.
Responsible for unity planning, collection and policy development, and evaluation in alignment with college policies, assessment efforts, and strategic planning initiatives.
Ensures assessment of quality and effectiveness of IT systems, services, and personnel in coordination with supervisor and institutional assessment and effectiveness efforts.
Recruits, supervises, and evaluates IT department staff and work-study personnel. Creates staffing plans, provides regular evaluation, and manages in alignment with college policies; leads and supports growth and professional development of IT department employees.
Fosters a culture of academic excellence and student success.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in business, technology, or other field appropriate to the work assigned. Minimum of five years' progressively responsible information technology administrative and supervisory experience. Demonstrated proficiency in multiple technology disciplines, such as: networking, server virtualization, software development, EDI, VoIP, or database administration. Demonstrated successful management and leadership experience with the ability to lead a team of IT professionals in a professional service provider environment. Experience in administrative project planning and management; systems design, implementation and production processing; client problem resolution and troubleshooting; systems design and analysis.
Experience managing and working with Active Directory and LDAP environments. Ability to develop batch automation scripts using PowerShell or similar scripting languages. Ability to research, plan, develop and implement projects and initiatives.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; customer service oriented. Ability to develop and manage budgets. Ability to read, interpret and comprehend a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to students, parents, faculty and staff.
Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet and database applications; ability to use web content management systems. Ability to understand and produce spreadsheet based budget reports; have an understanding of basic account principles and processes. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical and logistical problems. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; ability to troubleshoot and deal with problems involving multiple variables and situations.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to explain and execute complex tasks.
Additional Information:
This position works primarily day shift with occasional evenings and weekend shifts. Must be flexible and cooperative in fulfilling responsibilities and in meeting the College's needs. Must have the ability to respond to infrequent emergency needs to address major system outages.
This positions requires sitting at a desk for long periods of time. Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects tools or controls. Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 pounds. Work is primarily completed in an indoor setting.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
